The Raidió Fáilte new building close to the junction of Divis Street and the Westlink motorway seeks a material presence in an area with deep politico-cultural roots and local history, now much too wide and barren a physical space that makes those and the socio-historical resonances difficult to grasp, or to hold tightly enough to seep into an architectural consciousness.  But they are there, nevertheless.

The intention of the architecture of this simple building is to affirm a physical presence directly on the public space of the street and to mediate the entrance threshold by a small courtyard that also connects to the garden and parking area.

Perforated brick walls extend notions of filters and screens and, in minimising any potential over-looking, also intend a certain ambiguity.
